Scottie Scheffler is once again the Masters Tournament champion for the second time in three years.
Scheffler, 27, the No. 1 overall player in the Official World Golf Ranking, shot 11-under par for the weekend and 68 for his final round to win his second career green jacket and second career major, having previously won at Augusta National Golf Club in 2022. The former University of Texas standout shot for seven birdies and three bogeys on Sunday (April 14), entering the final round tied for the lead at 7-under par.
Scheffler won two tournaments in 2024 prior to the Masters, the first PGA major event of the season, with victories at the Hero World Challenge and Arnold Palmer Invitational. The 27-year-old is the second player to win the Masters twice while ranked No. 1 overall, following Tiger Woods' victories in 2001 and 2002 and became the fifth player to win the Masters while ranked No. 1 overall upon his initial victory in 2022, following Woods, Dustin Johnson (2020), Fred Couples (1992) and Ian Woosnam (1991).
Scheffler is also the second player to win two Masters within his first five starts, following Horton Smith's victories in 1934 and 1936. Swedish golfer Ludvig Åberg finished second at 7-under par. Americans Max Homa and Colin Morikawa tied English golfer Tommy Fleetwood tied for third at 4-under.
