If you live in a community with a lot of rental properties, lawmakers may have some changes coming.

A bill is gaining steam in the Florida Legislature that would give local governments the ability to implement rules regarding homes rented out to tourists on a short-term basis.

The bill would not let communities dictate how often properties are rented out, but would allow them to impose rules on things like trash, noise and traffic.

Supporters say the bill is all about the rights of the people who live near the rental properties, and complain of a revolving door of neighbors who might not respect their community because they are only there for a couple of days.
