While a federal judge has joined state judges in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties in declaring the same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional, don't expect a flood of gay weddings in Florida anytime soon.

U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle ruled that the ban approved by voters six years ago violates the equal protection rights of gay couples, but immediately issued a stay, delaying the effect of his order.

That means no marriage licenses will be issued immediately to same-sex couples.
